Kurtis Laing
Kurtis Laing is an Australian director, producer, and performer, and a graduate of the MFA (Directing) program at NIDA. He is the founder and Creative Director of Good Time Theatrics.
At NIDA, Kurtis assisted on Sweeney Todd (dir. Constantine Costi) and directed 21 Chump Street by Lin-Manuel Miranda. He also directed the music video PIECES for DICE (Triple J, 2023).
In 2021 his highly regarded production of Awakening by Daniel Lammin, based on Frank Vedekind's Spring Awakening premiered at Backdock Arts in Brisbane before touring South East QLD with shows at the Empire Theatre in Toowoomba, HOTA on the Gold Coast and Noosa Arts Theatre. In 2026 a remount of Awakening showed at the Factory Theatre in Sydney. Kurtis has also produced Snowflake by Mike Bartlett (dir. Jo Bradley) and directed Tick, Tick... Boom! at the Old Fitz Theatre, which later transferred to PIP Theatre in Brisbane. Recently he directed the NSW premier of Selkie by Finn O’Branagain at the Old Fitz Theatre and Sydney Fringe, followed by seasons at the Adelaide Fringe and NIDA in 2026.
Alongside his theatre work, Kurtis has curated and directed musical theatre variety events including A Little Night MusicALS and Musicals Actually as well as the highly regarded Folk at the Fitz.
